What is a bridal session?

The bridal session is a photo session dedicated to the bride in her wedding gown. A bridal session tends to be more of a Southern tradition, but it affords several benefits. The session generally takes place approximately 6 weeks prior to the wedding. This allows enough processing time to display an image or two from the bridal session at your wedding. 

For brides interested in this session, it’s highly recommended that the dressmaker is given plenty of advance notice such that alterations can be completed prior to the photo session. Many makeup artists and hair stylists offer a trial run for the wedding day. It works out very well if these coincide with your bridal session.

The bridal session provides a good test for walking around in your dress, and often times leads to the discovery of a few necessary last minute adjustments– whether an alteration to the dress fit or a tweaking of the hair or makeup.

Individual photos of the bride are still taken on your wedding day, however, the bridal session provides an opportunity for unique location shots captured in a more relaxed and extended fashion.
